Claude Monet

Claude Monet (1840-1926), was the original founder and practitioner of the French Impressionist Movement in painting.Being more concerned with form and light than realism, he often painted series of the exact same scenes under different light and weather conditions. After an art exhibition in 1874, a critic insultingly dubbed Monet's style "Impressionism" and the term stuck.
